At Wakokoro Tea, we believe that exceptional tea begins with the people who grow it — and that preserving their craft is essential to the future of Japanese tea.
We partner directly with skilled, small-scale tea producers across Japan, from the misty hills of Uji and the sun-drenched plateaus of Shizuoka to the lush mountains of Kagoshima. These farmers are the guardians of centuries-old traditions, growing and crafting tea with deep care, precision, and pride. Through these close relationships, we ensure traceability, honest sourcing, and unmatched freshness.
But Wakokoro Tea is more than just a tea brand — it is a movement to revitalize Japan’s tea industry. As rural tea farms face aging populations, declining demand, and global competition, we aim to support sustainable growth by connecting producers directly with tea lovers around the world. Every purchase helps keep these traditions alive and supports the next generation of tea makers.
We don’t just offer authentic Japanese tea — we share the people, places, and purpose behind it.

The best
Creamy, Medium body, Complex taste note
One of the beat hojicha’s out there, it was so smooth and easy to drink! Really smoky and chocolatey! I would really recommend this to friends and family ❤️
Very generous gift if high quality Matcha
Rich and savory umami that melts on your tongue. Something you'll keep running back to, and definitely deserves a permanent spot in any matcha rotation!
This one exceeded my expectations. As someone who loves the Okumidori cultivar, I could vouch that this one is bold and smooth! It makes such beautiful microfoam that tells how high quality Mizuho is. I drink this whenever I feel like rewarding myself! Also, it has that jade dark green! I love it when I pour the matcha into the milk as it layers really well. Would definitely repurchase!!!

Love love this matcha so much. sweet and slightly umami flavour, bitterness is low. My husband who is not a matcha fan also enjoys it. Great for its price as well.
Really impressed with Wakokoro Tea and their customer service. I especially appreciated the personal follow-up to make sure my order arrived safely and that I was happy with the shipment. When I had a question about the packaging, Jin responded quickly with a thoughtful and detailed explanation, along with helpful tips on how to prepare and store the tea. It’s clear they genuinely care about their customers and their products. Looking forward to trying all the teas and ordering again!
