Experience the Heart of Japanese Tea Culture in Tokyo with Wakokoro Tea 🍵

Step into the serene world of Japanese tea and discover how every cup reflects centuries of craftsmanship, mindfulness, and harmony.
Hosted by Wakokoro Tea, this 75–80 minute hands-on workshop invites you to experience Japan’s most celebrated teas — matcha, sencha, hojicha, and Japanese black tea (wakōcha) — all in one session.

You’ll begin with a short video introduction that shares the history, types, and evolution of Japanese tea, along with the challenges and innovations shaping the tea industry today.
Then, through guided demonstrations, you’ll prepare and enjoy four distinct teas using premium tea leaves sourced from Kyoto (Uji), Kagoshima, and Sayama, regions renowned for their exceptional tea quality.

Each tea will be paired with a beautifully selected Japanese sweet, designed to complement its unique flavor profile — from the deep umami of matcha to the refreshing aroma of sencha and the roasted warmth of hojicha.

Along the way, you’ll learn:

  • How to whisk matcha using a traditional chasen (bamboo whisk)

  • The differences between shaded and unshaded teas

  • How roasting transforms the flavor of green tea

  • The growing role of Japanese black tea in today’s global tea culture

This experience is guided entirely in English, making it ideal for travelers, expats, and locals alike.
More than just tasting tea, you’ll discover the stories of Japan’s tea producers, the philosophy of “Wa” (harmony), and the mindful beauty of slowing down with a cup of tea.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned tea lover, this experience offers a deep, authentic connection to Japanese culture through one of its most meaningful traditions.
