This Tokoname-ware “Pink Round Cat Silhouette Teapot” features a ceramic mesh (Ceramesh) strainer, designed to bring out the full flavor of your tea.

Specifications:

  • Body Size: 16.5 × 14 × 10 cm
  • Capacity: Full capacity approx. 400 ml; recommended usage approx. 320 ml

Key Features:

  • Entirely made of ceramic, including the built-in ceramic mesh (Ceramesh) strainer that is especially suited for extracting the rich umami from tea leaves.
  • The capacity is suitable for about 3 servings (approx. 100 ml per person).
  • Crafted from pink-colored clay and fired at about 1,100°C. No harmful substances are used in the materials.
  • The cat silhouette pattern is applied as a transfer print and then fired again at about 800°C for a durable finish.
  • To ensure a perfect fit between the lid and the body, both are carefully polished and adjusted, resulting in slight traces of the polishing process.

About Tokoname Ware (Tokoname-yaki):
With a history spanning over 1,000 years since the late Heian period, Tokoname ware is considered one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. The Tokoname region produces a wide range of ceramics—from everyday teapots and tableware to ceramic pipes, tiles, and sanitary ceramics used in architecture. On June 11, 1976, Tokoname ware was officially designated as a Traditional Craft by the Japanese government under the Law for the Promotion of Traditional Craft Industries.
